Covering 52 sq. miles, Lake Almanor is regarded as one of California’s best trophy trout and salmon fisheries. It is host to populations of Browns, Rainbows, as well as Land Locked King Salmon. Lake Almanor is located 66 miles from Chico100 miles from Reno and 147 miles from Sacramento. This beauty typically fishes good year round.
The Seasons - Almanor is one of the few Trophy Trout fisheries in the Sierras that is open to fishing year round and also has maintained access by road. This means it can be fished literally year round. Winter provides great action for Browns and Rainbows that are hungry and looking to feed. Spring can provide action that can only be summed up as "mind blowing", this is also the time of year when some of the largest fish of the year are caught. During the Summer months the trout tend to move to deeper but that is no problem for our Cannon Downriggers and top of the line ultra-light gear. Once the leaves begin to change so do the feeding habits of the fish, as they move back shallow and try to stock up on food for the coming winter. Departure Points - For your convenience, departures are available from all "serviceable" docks around Lake Almanor. Rec Areas, Resorts, Vacation Rentals, and Private Homes. Your exact departure location will be confirmed prior to the trip. The Rates - Morning Charters (7 hours) The first two guests $225.00 per person. Each additional guest $150.00 (Two person minimum boat charge) Afternoon Charters (3.5 hours and only available when there is a morning charter scheduled for the same day) $125 per person (Three person minimum boat charge) All tackle and fishing equipment is provided, including fish cleaning and wrapping. |
